www.bik.org.uk BIKO have teamed up with a Japanese Language School The principal at the Language School is himself a Karate Instructor, he has contacts with many other senior grade instructors for various styles of Karate. He can also arrange Training in Kendo, Iai-Do, Judo and many other Martial Arts. The language school can apply for visas and arrange accommodation in Tokyo. Any students wishing to learn Japanese whilst training in the Martial Arts should contact the BIKO PR Officer for further details. BIKO Bringing Clubs Together to share their Knowledge Fun Friendship and Good Karate at affordable Prices SUCCESSFUL BIKO OPEN TRAINING COURSE BRISTOL 23rd November 2003 The British Institute of Karate Organisation (BIKO) recently held a training course at the Kingsdown Sports Centre, Portand Street, Bristol, on Sunday 23rd November 03. The course was a great success, with fifty students attending, and a large proportion of them coming from Wales. The instructors on the course were Kaicho Garth Waldropt (6th Dan) Sensei Gerry Coulter (5th Dan) Sensei Ken Henville (5th Dan) Sensei Peter Ashby (5th Dan) Sensei John Parkhouse (4th Dan) Sensei Nick MacFarren (4th Dan) The course itinery was warm up, basics, kihon, ippon, kumite / free fighting and warm down. The course tutor for the event was Mick Bazlewycz who taught Seipai Kata, which is one of the WKF compulsory katas. Although the course was not well attended, those who were there enjoyed the session as it also incoporated the bunkai for the kata. Keep using the Biko website to find out about the next Kata course. REFEREEING AND JUDGING COURSES The FIRST BIKO Training Course in Cambridge On Sunday 13th April 2003 over 60 students attended our first Training Course. The Senior Instructors ran this as a workshop dividing them into groups, with each group alternating with Senior Instructors Teaching Different Concepts of Karate.
